Principles of the Constitution (Blog #5)

2)  Contained within the United States Constitution are 6 key principles that guide our democracy. Out of the 6 principles contained within the Constitution which of the 3 do you think is the most important and why. Explain in detail.

  1. 1.)Popular Sovereignty because that's what gives the people the power.

    2.)Limited Power because it says that the government can only do things the people have given it power to do and not take over the people.

    3.) Checks and Balances because it wouldn't be very good if one power became stronger than the others.

  2. 1. checks and balances. they check each other so that they don't gain to much power and overtake the others.
    2. limited gov't. people give the gov't only as much power as they want.
    3. popular sovereignty. people have control of their gov't decisions.

    2.)Limited Power because the government can only do things people have give to get the power to do and not take over the population.

    3.) Checks and Balances, it would be good if one power became stronger than the rest of the others.

    2) Limited Power because it allows the people have a voice instead of just the government.
    3)Popular Sovereignty because it gives people power to help the government make the popular decisions.

  5. 1.Popular Sovereignty, all power rests with the people, and that the people have given the government its power through the Constitution.
    2.Limited Government, states that government can do only those things that the people have given it authority to do. In other words, it must obey the law.
    3.Checks and Balances, which allows one branch to restrain the power of another.

    2. Separation of powers to keep the power distributed so not a single group can become too powerful.
    3. Federalism because in such a large area, there needs to be power at both the federal and state level.

  8. 1.) Checks and balances because they keep the government equal and just. If one branch gets stronger, the government would be weaker.

    2.) Popular Sovereignty because the basis of the Constitution was on giving the people the power instead of the government.

    3.)Limited Power because if the government had too much power we would not suceed

    2. limited government- because if eveyone wanted to change things nothing would ever want to stay the same and change all of the time
    3. federalism- because there must be division for the people so a group can focus on one topic not everything

    2.)Limited Government, so the govn't can't get into things that might not be any of their business.
    3.)Checks and Balances, it is a nice thought if one power would become stronger than all the rest.

    2) Limited government because if the government took over too much control it would sometime become a dictatorship and that would be bad.
    3) Popular sovereignty because I think the people should make the government decisions by voting.
